HP Intelligent Provisioning ….. is it Intelligent enough?

Yeah…. HPIP is intelligent, but intelligent to a certain limit, it is intelligent to the programmed info., to the latest information about OS version, to the latest firmware version, but the question is which version and which level.

Simply the answer would be the latest version or level that was added to HPIP at the date of release ………… :)

I had an issue a couple of days ago, and i tried to find a solution for it, but i found lots of IT stuff facing the same issue, so i decided to do it the hard way, let me give you a sample from what i read:

On IT guy wrote (NOT SO) Intelligent Provisioning

I'm trying to configure a new DL380 Gen 8 server with Intelligent Provisioning.  With it, I'm trying to install the vSphere 5.5 custom image that the HP site directed me to download.  Following what instructions I could find, it says to start IP, go to the OS install options, I choose ESXi/vSphere custom on a USB drive.  On the next page I can open the USB drive and I see the ISO file.  It says you should be able to double-click it and it should allow you to go to the next page to continue the install.  In this case, it just acts like it is reading the image, but does not show me the continue button to go to the next page.  I'm then just stuck at that page and can't go forward.

Before this, I had already downloaded and run the SPP for the server upgrading some firmware.  I also tried to create a bootable USB drive and install it the old fashioned way.  In that case it just gives me an error about the menu and doesn't go any further.

Am I doing something wrong or missing a step?

Simply i had the same issue, and the solution was simply digging for the latest version of the HPIP, which was HPIP 1.6, where you can find at:

http://h17007.www1.hp.com/us/en/enterprise/servers/management/ilo/index.aspx#tab=TAB5

it will simply update the Flash drive part that is attached to the iLo4, and will be ready for data available on the OS you are going to install.
