HP and the Finger Sensor

After a long long time, from having my HP Probook laptop (Probook 4540s), and after i tried log in to windows using  Pictures (windows 8, and 8.1) i realized that i haven’t used the Finger sensor yet.

I have had my laptop for nearly a year now, but i didn’t use it. So i said why not lets try ………!!!!!!

i installed the driver, and ….  WAW….. no issues in the OS, nor in the driver, but i went for an hour looking for any way, utility or even a tab to configure the finger print….. but nothing.

I began surfing and searching on the internet for about a couple of hours and for nothing, people are speaking about strange things, obviously strange issues, and software, and drivers,……etc.

I changed the searching words, and …..Voila…………. I got it.

HP is using an additional Software for the finger print configuration …..wonderful, I got something…… :)

This software is called “ HP Simple pass” and lots of people are talking about it, waw lets begin.

Very simple installation, and very easy way to configure, but i am not able to configure it for using my finger to login windows………….ooooof

And Suddenly, i realize that the “HP Simple Pass” is not supported for Windows 8.1…………………..What the Fu*****… apologies for that , But what’s HP is doing, it isn’t moving to Innovation only, but also for stupidity ….. are they insisting to loose the customer, or is it a way to enforce selling new products? …..

Check the following URL to know how to configure Simple pass for fingerprint http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03653209

yes it is a trend that is available at all vendors that a software is available to manage the finger print and it isn’t embedded in a Hardware or something, but could this be safe?

from my Security prospective, HP didn’t do innovation in this area,  i leave it to you, give me your opinion….
